SM Cinema Hosts the Advance Screening of The Hunger Games


March 21, 2012--SM Cinema, in cooperation with Energy FM, will hold the simultaneous advance screenings of The Hunger Games at the Cinema 6 of SM Megamall, Cinema 5 of SM Mall of Asia and Cinema 2 of SM Baguio tonight at 7:30 PM. The event will be attended to by VIPs, theatre industry partners, brand partners and other special guests.
About The Hunger Games
In the dystopian world of Panem, two young representatives from the 12 Districts are chosen by the Capitol each year to compete for the brutal Hunger Games, a game where there’s only one rule—kill or get killed. The names of the participants are selected through lottery. When Katniss Everdeen’s young sister, Prim, is selected to be the representative, Katniss Volunteers to take her place. In the arena, Katniss and her male counterpart Peeta set their own rule—to survive while keeping their humanity intact.
The Hunger Games is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel of the same name.  The film is directed by Gary Ross.  Suzanne Collins, Gary Ross and Billy Ray wrote the screenplay of The Hunger Games.  It is produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik.
The film is released by Lionsgate and distributed here in the country by Pioneer.  It will be released nationwide on March 22, 2012.
The Hunger Games is rated PG 13 by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

SM Cinema Hosted the Advance Screening of Mirror Mirror


SM Cinema, in partnership with iFM, will hold the advance screening of Mirror Mirror on March 14, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the Cinema 6 of SM Mall of Asia.  The event was attended to by VIPs, theatre industry partners, brand partners and other special guests.
About Mirror Mirror
Relativity Media presents Mirror Mirror, a re-imagining of the classic fairytale which stars the award-winning actress Julia Roberts and Lily Collins (The Blind Side).  The former plays the role of the Queen and the latter stars as Snow White.  Brighton, the Queen’s unfortunate and clumsy servant, is played by Nathan Lane (The Lion King, The Birdcage).  Armie Hammer (The Social Network) takes the role of Prince Alcott and Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Game of Thrones) is cast to play the King.  
Mirror Mirror is based on Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s classic fairytale Snow White. In this re-telling, the queen takes control over the kingdom after Snow white is exiled and banished to the forest where a man-eating beast lurks. The latter solicits the help of seven rebels to reclaim her birthright.
This comedy adventure film is directed by Tarsem Singh. The screenplay writers are Melissa Wallack and Jason Keller.
Mirror Mirror is released by Relativity Media and distributed here in the country by Pioneer.  The film opens nationwide on March 15, 2012.

SM Cinema Hosted the Advance Screening of The Lorax


Solar-UIP, in cooperation with SM Cinema, hosted the simultaneous press and VIP screening s of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on March 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM at IMAX North EDSA and at IMAX Southmall, on March 12, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the Cinema 1 of SM Megamall and on March 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the Cinema 2 of SM City North EDSA The Block. The event was attended to by VIPs, the Press, theatre industry partners, brand partners and other special guests.
The film The Lorax is based on the children’s book created by Dr. Seuss.  It is about a boy’s journey to discover the story of the forest creature called the Lorax.  SM Cinema offered promos and sold tickets in advance for this film.
SM Cinema started selling tickets in advance for this movie on January 17, 2012. In Partnership with Solar-UIP, SM Cinema also hosted the Meet and Greet Activity of Lorax the Mascot in different SM Supermalls branches such as SM Bacoor, SM Southmall, SM Marikina, SM North EDSA, SM Fairview, SM Megamall, SM Taytay, SM San Lazaro, SM Centerpoint, SM Manila, SM Bicutan and SM Sucat.
About The Lorax
The Lorax is an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ book of the same title. It follows the adventures of Ted, a 12-year-old boy, as he searches for a real Truffula Tree in order to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To succeed on this feat he must visit the Once-ler and discover the story of The Lorax, the grumpy yet charming guardian of the forest.
Danny DeVito voices the title character of The Lorax. Ed Helms voices the enigmatic Once-ler.  Zac  Efron lends his talent to the character Ted. Taylor Swift also joins the cast as Audrey, the girl who inspired Ted to search for the story of The Lorax. Betty White lends her voice as Ted’s Grammy Norma.

SM Cinema Hosted the Advance Screening of The Muppets


SM Cinema, in cooperation with 99.5 RT, hosted the advance screening of The Muppets on March 15, 2012 at 7:30 P.M. at the Cinema 6 of SM Megamall.  The event  was attended to by VIPs, the Press, theatre industry partners, brand partners and other special guests.
About The Muppets
After 11 years since the Muppets’ last big screen feature film, Walt Disney Pictures presents The Muppets. The film follows the adventures of the Muppets and their three fans to save their beloved theater from an avaricious oil tycoon.
Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the evil plan of oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to destroy the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets to stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater. And so,  Fozzie who  now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy who is now a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal who is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo who is a high-powered plumbing magnate reunite to save their beloved theater.
The Muppets cast includes Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Walter. The film is directed by James Bobin, the director/writer/EP for HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords.”  The producers are David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.
