As part of its effort to develop the national culture and bring
out the Filipino identity through film, the Film Development Council of the
Philippines (FDCP) will launch the Sineng
Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 –
All Masters Edition this
September. The event will feature twelve of the best and most prolific
film directors in the country: Elwood Perez, Romy Suzara, Jun Urbano, Gil
Portes, Maryo J. de los Reyes, Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, Mel Chionglo,
Chito Roño, Tikoy Aguiluz, Joel Lamangan, Carlos Siguion-Reyna and Jose Javier
Reyes. The directors’ masterpieces created with funding assistance and support
from the FDCP, will showcase each of the director’s home towns as the film backdrop.
To support FDCP in its aim to revitalize the country’s film industry, SM
Cinema will be hosting the event. The Sineng
Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 – All Masters Edition shall
have its regular run from September 11 to 17 exclusively in all SM Cinema
branches nationwide. All SM Cinema branches will only show the Sineng
Pambansa entries for the week of its regular run.
